Elegant Spring Hair

ofwnow.com
Elegance takes center stage this spring with a bit of help from our friends across the pond, William and Kate, as they prepare for their upcoming nuptials.  Ladylike hair and makeup dotted the spring runways and now translate into doable do's for us commoners.  Creating an effortless look is still the goal, but messy hair is no longer de rigueur.  The look is polished and sophisticated. Lovely updo's and braids are pinned and held in place with a wide variety of hair accessories ranging from oversized barrettes to twisted bobby bins.

There is a beautiful simplicity to some of the looks from the runway shows that are fairly easy to translate at home and do them yourself.  Use a volumizing spray to create texture and blow dry your hair to maximize wave.  Starting at the crown of your head, twist small sections of hair, temporarily pinning them as you go.  Sweep all sections of hair in a loose bun or chignon and hold in place with some hairspray.  Remove the pins when hair is set.

Hair accessories look like works of art, and there is a price point for everyone...If you have long locks go for one of these asymetrical modern looks:

Braids are showing up everywhere this season.  The looks range from loosely braided long locks to tightly coifed braided updo's.  If you are going to experiment with the look, go for something that is age appropriate.

The one thing that all of these looks have in common is that hair is completely swept off the face and neat.  It leads one to ponder the concept of a flawless impeccable look for skin and makeup... we'll be talking about fresh spring makeup tomorrow.  Until then, a little royal wave coming your way!
